TacoWelcome to another episode of Uncle Bing’s Favorite Tunes. As we all must have expected from its rocket to the top, Gene Cotton holds onto the top spot for a second week in a row.  But, I don’t think that will last for more than a week or so because LTD’s hit, “Back in Love Again” is taking the same charge up the chart, moving into the Top Five in only it’s third week.

Unfortunately, there are several legitimate contenders between LTD and number one. Vampire Weekend and Taco each make big pushes upward this week. Elsewhere on the chart, two of last week’s debut songs, by Prozzak and Toto, take good jumps up the chart.

Three new songs debut this week, led by Gene Pitney at #18 and followed by Naked Eyes and Larry Elgart. Larry Elgart’s hit “Hooked on Swing” was one of several songs to hit the Billboard Hot 100 in 1982 that were medleys of other hit songs. Elgart’s medley was of Big Band songs. As those of you who know me know, I’m a big sucker for every medley song ever released.

I have included a link to its song on youtube, plus I’ve added a few other links to songs on the chart this week. Enjoy!
