January 16th Clayton Q will be performing at The Boondox in Columbia, TN to support the launch of L United. L United is bringing hockey to Veterans and children in the Nashville, TN region. This organization is taking a unique approach to hockey for children and Veteran’s Advocacy. Clayton has been playing music his whole life. Like the other artists who are supporting this event, being able to perform is life itself. Especially when it is for a cause like L United. I am looking forward to meeting Clayton Q in person. His passion for his craft and desire for music came through during our conversation. The last 12 months have been rough and 2021 is starting off with a bang. What do active duty military transitioning into civilian life and Veterans do? We prepare, we organize and support each other. It is just that simple.
There is no other way to be successful during this time than continuing to each other’s advocate. Support Veteran Owned Businesses and give an assist to those who are re-entering the civilian workforce. We are stronger together.
I am proud to wear the Semper Savage (www.sempersavage.com) shirt, “Rough Men Stand Ready”. Let’s all be ready!
Things start picking up next week, it is only the first week in January, but the mission is in flight!

Happy New Year! I hope you are all ending 2020 safe and healthy. Even though COVID-19 changed some of my plans for Oscar Mike Radio, I thought about and I feel blessed as 2020 winds down. Thank you for all the support for what I am doing. I am looking forward to 2021. Continuing this work is important me now more than ever. Happy New Year, there is a lot of good stuff on the way!

Just some thoughts around Christmas this year and what someone in the military may be going through. It can be a difficult time under the best of circumstances. Regardless, I hope your Christmas is safe and that you get a chance to connect your family, friends and loved ones. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I first saw Chad when I caught some of his videos talking about life in the cab of his pickup truck. Fast forward to today and Chad is world renowned comedian who approaches life through the lens of common sense and laughter.
Talking with me during a break from recording at his studio, Chad talked to me about how important it is to be able to laugh at oneself and poke fun where common sense is lacking.
Maybe it really is that simple. Being able to laugh and more importantly laugh with someone does more than a pill ever will. The only way to know for sure is to look for the funny side of life. Chad talks about being able to make fun of himself. I think if we all did that the world would be better for it.
I want to thank Chad for coming on my show and will look forward to laughing in the face of adversity!
Danielle Rocco is peer in Veterans’ Advocacy. She has been on Oscar Mike Radio as a guest, and we have co-hosted events together.
We had talked about doing a live interview event at the Irreverent Warriors Silkies Hike in Milford, MA on December 2020. I was going to meet her son Jake who served in the Marine Corps and have him on Oscar Mike Radio. Well thanks to COVID-19, we couldn’t meet in person. We decided to do the show over Zoom and had a great time.
I wanted Jake to help me tell you all about how the holidays and Christmas can be while serving in the military. Jake and I served in different times and eras in the Marine Corps, but we had similar experiences with regards to being away from family for the holidays. It was great getting to hear about his experiences, and share that bond the Marines have. I think watching Danielle listening to us talk was a real bonus for this show. Also, it was great to hear her talk like a mom about being a peace with her son serving.
Christmas means a lot of things to people, and talking to Jake and Danielle helped get me off to a good start for Christmas 2020. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas. You can find out more about Danielle’s work by going to the following places.
