240 – Tommy Anderson – Two Million Steps for The Freedom Tour

240 – Tommy Anderson – Two Million Steps for The Freedom Tour

The question I asked myself is what hasn’t Tommy Anderson done? US Army, US Air National Guard, firefighter, writer, actor, movies, books, podcasts, there does not seem to be anything else he can do. Or is there?

I met Tommy through Danielle Rocco who does Devoted to Soldier. Coach Dani told me that Tommy was coming to the launch of the Freedom Tour on April 30th at Bold Patriot Brewing Company in Nashville, TN.

Tommy was also going to use the profits of his newest book Two Million Steps to support the Tennessee VFW, Crosswinds Foundation, and the VFW’s Freedom Tour. Set in the Civil War, it is story about a unit from Wisconsin as they go through that time in our history.

The Freedom Tour comprises Marine Veteran Chris Turner (christurnermusic.com) performing at VFWs in Tennessee. During the concert, the Crosswinds Foundation (http://crosswindsfoundation.org/)is going to present their Warrior Hope curriculum. I have taken this class, and it is proving to be an effective way to help someone without hope. This is all being done with the support from the Tennessee VFW.

Tommy wanted to get involved. He is going to be at the Bold Patriot Event April 30th and wants to talk with people who are coming to listen to Chris and his band. He believes everyone can do something to help Veterans and each other.

Two Million Steps is available on Amazon, and Barnes and Noble. I look forward to meeting you Tommy, thank you all that you do. What’s next😉

238 – Rise. Grind. Repeat

238 – Rise. Grind. Repeat

I met Roger Gindlesperger Jr. Through James Van Prooyen’s Veterans Virtual Cocktail Hour. Through this time, James has connected Veterans in Business to each other and I have been honored to have them on my show.

Roger talked about toothpaste. Specifically, a charcoal based toothpaste that wouldn’t harm people’s teeth. I was intrigued because oral health is important to me.

We talked about coming on Oscar Mike Radio and Roger asked about bring NFL Veteran Marques Ogden on to talk about Grind from a strategic standpoint. Marques has known Roger for a while and recently came on as Co-Owner of Grind Oral Care.

Rise. Grind. Repeat. it is more than a marketing tag-line for Roger and Marques. This mantra is a belief that anything worthwhile comes through disciplined focus.

I want to say thanks to Roger and Marques for coming on and talking about more than just toothpaste. The lessons learned in creating “G7” can be applied to other areas in life regardless if one a NFL or Military Veteran.

236 – Steve Emt – You D.E.C.I.D.E.

Stephen Emt went to West Point and then to UCONN to play basketball. At the age of 25 he was in a car accident which left him paralyzed from the waist down. Now he is a published author, public speaker, and Paralympian who does wheel chair CURLING! Steve and his team are working to raise money to support their chase for gold in 2022.

During 2020 and in the midst of COVID-19 Steve wrote You D.E.C.I.D.E. D.E.C.I.D.E is an acronym that stands for Determine , Educate, Create, Implement, Don’t Ever Give Up, and Evaluate. These principles are what allowed Steve to move forward with his life after the accident and to become a member of the U.S. Paralympic Curling Team. I believe that Stephen’s story is one that will get you to look at yourself and realize like him, you can be your own hero. His attitude towards life and the impact his story has made on people is needed especially during these times. Check out You D.E.C.I.D.E. and read a story and guide on how you can truly change your life. You can support them right now by doing the following:

2. Make a donation; https://www.gofundme.com/f/1rbw2ji21c

235 – Goodbye San Diego

235 – Goodbye San Diego

I wanted to do a part of my military story for this show. I thought about my last couple of weeks of boot camp at MCRD San Diego, and realized it was different than when I arrived to my memory.

The thing is I can’t really remember my last couple of weeks at MCRD San Diego. I mean, I do remember things, but not with the clarity that I can with Phases 1 & 2 of Marine Corps Boot Camp. Third Phase was no less demanding than first or second phase. The Drill Instructors did not let up one bit until we were told that we were officially United States Marines.

When I think about it, Boot Camp is a small part of military experience regardless of one’s branch of service. While I didn’t serve in combat, there were field ops that were longer than Boot Camp. However, Boot Camp is the start of the journey that all recruits must go through to earn the title of United States Marine.

I only saw one of the two members of my boot camp platoon in the fleet and one guy who was in another platoon. I have never seen anyone else after I left Boot Camp. What I mean is the strongest friendships and bonds of brotherhood are formed after boot camp when you get through MOS school and start serving in the fleet. Good stuff, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I will end with this. I still believe to this day that HAWK school in some ways was worse the Boot Camp. Hawk Class 1-96 may agree or disagree and you will find out why.
