On February 29th the Veterans Brotherhood V-M/C had their annual Cabin Fever Event at the Bridgewater Portuguese Holy Ghost Society Club.
I enjoyed my time there watching all the bikers come together to support each other. Go to https://vbvmcma.com/ to find out more about the Veterans Brotherhood V-M/C. I want to say thank you to JK, The Reverend and Gunny for letting me come and support the event. I can’t wait to do it in 2021.
Can’t believe a month later events like this wouldn’t be allowed to take place.

I talk with an Army Veteran and two of my fellow Reedy’s Archery Veterans Team Marine Team Members about their mission for Tough Ruck 2020. One day before the 2020 Boston Marathon, this team will ruck 26.2 miles to honor Gold Star Families. You can find out more about their story by going to this website: https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/cam… Please consider helping them reach this important goal.
Currently the 2020 Tough Ruck is on hold due to Corona Virus. That hasn’t stopped this team from working to help Veterans.

I got connected to Phil Cook from meeting Andrew Farrer of Irreverent Warriors Nashville.
His story was interesting because Army Veteran Phil Cook was wounded while serving our country. Doctors told him he would not be able to ruck ever again. In typical Army fashion, Phil not only ruck marches but is getting ready for the Bataan Memorial March on March 15th, 2020. He is a lesson to what working to overcome impossible odds is all about.
Phil supports Memories of Honor, Irreverent Warriors Nashville, and The Baatan Memorial Death March. Phil works with photography and takes amazing pictures. Find out more by going to the following sites: https://bataanmarch.com/https://www.memoriesofhonor.org/
Due to Corona Virus, Phil was not able to march. That has not stopped him from advocating for Veterans.

Andrew was a guest on Oscar Mike Radio for #158 . (https://whoobazoo.com/oscarmike/2019/…) He was launching the Nashville, TN Irreverent Warriors Silkies Hike in 2019, and working on rebuilding himself. February 19th, 2020 Andrew graduated from Veterans Court. We talked about how that experience was good for him. He is a new man. Along with doing Veterans Court, Andrew feels Irreverent Warriors will allow him to give back to others who are fighting their personal battles. I was honored to be there for Andrew. Big thanks to Zac Jenkins Marine Veteran Owner of Semper Sliders for letting us use the space to record. I really appreciated getting to meet all of Andrew’s friends who came out to support him. It was a special feeling to meet “Momma Bear”, Cindy McNally who is the president and CEO of Irreverent Warriors. It only took a minute to feel like one of your cubs. Semper Fidelis

I listened to 107.3 FM WAAF in the Greater Boston area for over 20 years. It went off the airwaves on February 21st, 2020. I wanted to make this podcast as a way of saying thanks for good memories and getting into podcasting. Greg Hill, Spaz, LB, Mike Hsu, and Mistress Carrie were all like friends to me over the years. Mistress Carrie graciously accepted my invite to come on Oscar Mike Radio not once, but twice. I would like to think that there is a part of her in every podcast I do. A tireless advocate for Veterans, I hope to hear her voice on the airwaves soon. I just wanted a way to say that you all more were than just noise coming through my headphones. Thanks for all the memories and good times WAAF!

Catherine Walker’s husband had her killed by his lover in 2014. He wanted the $400,000.00 in insurance money. 6 years later justice was served. I can’t get over how Catherine was able to forgive her murderer before being killed.
Jody Podcasts are made to demonstrate the turmoil infidelity in the military cause for servicemember, their children and families. I like to make fun of Valentines Day, but in a way Catherine had love in her heart. How Catherine was able to do that has stayed with me. Her story is an example to me, and reminds me that infidelity is never a victimless crime.

Marine Veteran Mike Damon owned his PTSD. He is using what he learned in his journey to create a guide for anyone to use to conquer their inner battles. The guide is written like guides in the military are written. The principles are easy to understand and implement. Listening to Mike talk about his vision and intent for what he is trying to do makes me believe that there is truly a way to go to 0 for Veteran Suicide.
Mike would like to thank all his friends and family who have supported him on this journey. He also thanks Nolan Motorcycle Helmets (https://www.nolan-usa.com/) for their support of Mike and the Vet Unite Motorcycle! A big thanks to Article Fifteen Brewing (https://articlefifteenbrewing.com/) in Weymouth, MA for allowing me to record there. I don’t drink, but Mike Damon can tell you it was cool to be served a refreshing brew during the interview by Jenn! Also wanted to shout out to Justin Cherman of Thank you Popcorn for the great snacks. You are welcome for Thank You Popcorn!
The good things keep coming for Oscar Mike Radio. Army Veteran Josh Hallet does video production. He did the video editing and masters for #185 with his company Boston Veteran Technology. This is big step because it is the first time I let someone make an episode. Thank you Josh and I am looking forward to doing great things together.
Note: The Star Wars Movie in the background was playing for customers of Article Fifteen Brewing. It is in no way to be considered part of Oscar Mike Radio’s production of #185.

I continue my military story with #184 which is about swim qualification in the Marine Corps. Knowing how to swim is kind of important for any Marine. Also, one can’t graduate boot without passing a basic water qualification. I am not the best swimmer and treading water for four minutes seemed like an eternity. I just had to make slow, easy movements and keep breathing. Sounds simple enough, but panic is a laughing bastard when I let it take over my mind. If you are planning on joining the Marine Corps take some swimming lessons. It is only a week out of boot camp, but like range an important part of being a Green Amphibious Monster.

Becky Tough has been on #125, # 133 and now 50 podcasts later, # 183. We have talked before about how art can help Veterans. This was special because Becky created some really cool art while we were talking. I really appreciated Becky taking the time to explain how much creating art meant to her. You can check out her and her partner’s work on https://www.facebook.com/2SistersArts/ Thanks again GQ

Also called Operation Eagle Claw by U.S. Forces, this was Delta Forces first operation that experienced catastrophic failure. Operation Tabas, as it was called by the Persians was an attempt to rescue American hostages taken from the Iran Embassy. I thought it relevant based on the lack of knowledge about our past with Iran.
This is a work in progress. I think I will revisit this topic in 2020 because it became clear that 30 minutes would not do this justice.
