I was on at 101 Arch St in Boston doing work when all of the sudden my colleagues and I got word that something terrible had happened in New York City. We were all watching the TV and our computer screens when the second plane hit the Tower.
Our thoughts were for our friends, family, and colleagues on Wall Street, Were they Ok? What was going on? How could this happen? When it finally unfolded that we, the United States had been attacked, the sense of disbelief was palpable.
Everything changed.
20 years later, I am seeing things I would never have thought possible as an American. We seem divided. There are Americans trapped in Afghanistan and our leadership does not seem to care. Veterans still experience challenges that other groups do not face. It is getting more and more difficult to see a path to the American Dream. I see hope and am encouraged by people who still believe that America is the best place to be on this planet. I believe and continue to be proud to be an American.
Today 09/11 should remind all of us that we are Americans. We are different, we have our problems, we fight and squabble with each other, but at the end of the day, America and what it represents is still seen as a beacon to many.
I am able to sit here today, drink my coffee, listen to my favorite podcast while writing this because of those willing to serve our country to protect our freedoms and those who work every day to make America a great place. While you are going about your life today, please remember so that we never forget.
I met Andrea Eichmann and Mark Petersen at the Bold Patriot Freedom Tour Launch Event with Chris Turner and Pastor Bob Waldrep in April of this year. Both Andrea and Mark had come down from Minnesota to be a part of the event and they came on the live stream with Danielle Rocco and me to talk about The People’s Patriot Project or WeP3. WeP3 is about meeting the Veteran where they are and helping them immediately or getting the Veteran to the right place for assistance. As they have worked in our community, Andrea and Mark have started a radio station for Veteran Artist and do a podcast and weekly live streams. Their plan for 2022 is to get funding to build out a place from which they can provide onsite services to Veterans. I really enjoyed getting to hear their story and want to give a big shout to Andrea who is proving that civilians can serve the Military and Veterans even though they haven’t served. There is good stuff coming up for WeP3. Check out the links below and thank you both for talking with me.

Alayna is a Marine Corps Veteran and started Semper Fi Designs as a way to raise money for Veterans Service Organizations and people in need. She made a flag for me sporting the HAWK missile and this first, only flag of its kind raised money for a charity she supports, Run to Home Base.
Great story here of connecting with Tom who is another Marine Corps Hawker. Go to Facebook and look up Semper Fi Designs to connect with Alayna.
She is doing great work and I want her to continue to succeed. Go to Facebook and look for Semper Fi Designs. Thank you Alayna for creating this for a great purpose!

For my birthday, I did a Facebook Fundraiser for Wild Hearts Therapeutic Equestrian Program. $1185.00 was raised and I have some raffle prizes to give out. So I will be doing the drawing live and giving an update about the program. I will also be talking about the Veterans Development Corporation Car Show on August 21, 2021. VDC is Veteran Owned by Marine Mark Voner and the car show is to raise money for Wild Hearts Therapeutic Equestrian Program.
Note: This again was a livestream that I turned into a podcast/show using Restream. Starting to get this dialed in and excited

I really enjoy getting to talk with artists. In a way artists, like Veterans, have to adapt, overcome and in some cases re-invent themselves.
Savannah Rae is no exception and I wanted to find out what makes her A Typical Texas Girl. She also loves the military. Savannah comes from a military family. Her father was a Marine and grandparents service in the Marine Corps and Army. Savannah has sang the Star Spangled Banner at several military functions. I have spent a lot of time in Texas, and it is truly a place like no other.
Getting to talk with Savannah about her musical journey and love for America is one of the best parts of doing Oscar Mike Radio.
You can find out more about Savannah by going to https://thesavannahrae.com/. Thanks for talking with me Savannah!

It is always a good to get to talk with artists who are not military. In many ways artists have to adapt, overcome and stay in their journey to attain success. Dariann Leigh is a great example of this. Her latest single, “10,000 Miles” is about the challenges of having a loved one serving far away. The song is based on Dariann’s experiences and her deep love for America and our military. Talking with Dariann about her love for our country and wanting to honor those who serve is a stark contrast to seeing people with a different viewpoint get public attention. 10,0000 Miles is Dariann’s way to emphasize that honor of those who serve our country. You can got to https://www.dariannleigh.com/ to get all the intel on Dariann and what she has going on this year. Thanks for talking with me Dariann and I am working on Tik-Tok so I don’t see so ancient!

It is interesting how shows come together. I got to know Susan Hunter through her book 77 Letters and Wayne Soares from a colleague.
We got to talk about a film project based on the Vietnam War called, “Every Time the Wind Blew”. This film seemed to be a different kind of project especially since neither Susan nor Wayne served in the Vietnam War or military.
Listening to their story of why they are doing this film and what they have learned, brought a different perspective than what one usually hears about the Vietnam War. You can go to https://www.facebook.com/EveryTimeThe… to learn more.
This project is already underway and is on schedule for an early 2022 release.
Thank you Susan and Wayne for talking with me.

Great getting to talk with Mario Cima. Mario is active duty Coast Guard and is stationed in Puerto Rico.June 27th is the first Irreverent Warriors Hike in Puerto Rico and Mario has worked hard to make this a success. It was great learning about what got Marino into Irreverent Warriors. Mario went to a hike and was taken in about how he felt at home, or part of a tribe.I think the most interesting aspect is what Mario hope comes out of doing this hike in the future. There is still time to sign up for a hike. Go to https://www.eventbrite.com/…/irreverent-warriors… to sign up! Thank you Mario for talking with me.

I had Susan Hunter on for #248. The conversation was so good we kept it going.
Joan Hunter started Operation Morale Booster during the Vietnam War. Operation Morale Booster was where Joan would write letters to soldiers serving in Vietnam during the war. Out of the this began a relationship with Bob Johnson, a soldier serving in the U.S. Army. Joan’s daughter, Susan P. Hunter, wrote 77 Letters about her mother’s work and the friendship between Bob and Joan. This friendship was significant because Joan was a white married woman while Bob was single Black man. As 77 Letters delves into the friendship between Joan and Bob, there are topics of conversation discussed during that time that resonate today. I found this part of the story just as impactful as the work Joan did during the Vietnam War. Susan has done an amazing job of bringing her mother’s legacy and Bob’s service to life.
