Heather Clark was just on Oscar Mike Radio. She was on for 226 – Namaslay. She has been nothing but Oscar Mike since we talked last month. So I had her back on to talk about her support for the Hearts for Warriors Event February 12th, 2021 at The Boondox.
Hearts for Warriors is an event to support Veterans artists in the Nashville area. COVID-19 has hit the music industry hard. Michelle Baxter who was on 229, is coordinating the entire event and my colleague Danielle Rocco and I will emcee.
Not only is Heather performing a song she co-wrote with Chris Turner, she has a diverse set of goals she is working to accomplish in the near future. It is amazing to watch fellow Veterans pursue their purpose. I believe that Heather has her purpose, and we are all getting a front row seat for her story.
Thank you Heather! You can watch Heather and Chris premiere their song at the Hearts for Warriors Event.

I met Michelle Baxter at the 2020 Irreverent Warriors Benefit held at The Boondox in Columbia, TN. Michelle is the Director of Booking for MC1 Nashville and Road Katz Agency. She has done a lot of work with Veterans who are transitioning into musicians. Chris Turner is an example of such an artist.
Michelle has been working hard to coordinate the Hearts for Warriors event on February 12th, 2021. This event is being held at The Boondox in Columbia, TN. All proceeds are going to benefit Veterans Artists. There will be BBQ being sponsored by JJs BBQ of Columbia, TN as well as raffles and other prizes! This is a great way to see artists up close and personal while having a great time.
I want to thank Michelle for coming on to talk with me. Danielle Rocco and I am looking forward to seeing this be another successful event!

I met Sara through the Friday Night Masshole Vets (https://www.facebook.com/MassholeVeterans) Zoom Call. It is where a bunch of the Veterans in the Masshole Region (New England) get together to socialize. It has been a great way to connect and meet other Veterans.
We were all hanging out one night when Sara started talking about hiking the Appalachian Trail. I started asking questions and realized that this wasn’t just talk. Sara wanted to use this experience and time to think. It also became clear that Sara sees a goal as a challenge and goes after it with everything she has.
Just learning about the equipment Sara is going to carry for more than 2200 miles was fascinating. I thought for sure she was going to use military gear to do the hike and found out there are vast differences between what we carried during our service and what is considered good for civilians.
I left the conversation with a sense that Sara is excited to go and be a part of nature. And while she is not wandering, achieving this goal will bring a new perspective on life and what she wants to do.
Thanks for talking with me Sara, I will meet you at the finish.
Thanks to my sponsors Joyce Asack, Mark Holmes and Shaun Schubert for supporting Veterans!
It may not look it, but Daniel and I have a lot in common. There are three things that unite us as brothers in arms. We served in the Marine Corps, we like heavy metal music, and we love Warhammer 40K. Daniel created a Facebook and MeWe group called VetsRock. That is how we met. It is a place where if you listen to or play rock and roll or heavy metal you can join in the fun. He was surprised when I joined and we started talking music. We met in person at the 2020 Irreverent Warriors Boston Halloween Party. Daniel showed up as Thor and crushed it. As we said in the conversation, a big thanks to Gladys Morgan for putting on that event. It was a great time. It was there that we started talking about about Warhammer 40K or 40K to all the players and fans. Daniel plays the game, but I like the lore. Just sitting there at the party or the Masshole Veterans Zoom Calls and shooting the breeze brought me back to many conversations in my 5-Ton in desert as we were pulling our HAWK gear. It was a good time. I want to do more of these. I know my show has been purpose driven, but doing this helped bring me back into alignment that sometimes all we need is someone just talk with about things we enjoy. Can’t wait to talk with you again Daniel. Next concert in town we are in the pit! Ave imperator!

I met Heather Clark at the 2020 Irreverent Warriors Nashville Hike on September 11th. She is a Navy Veteran. It was early morning after the event at The Boondox and Heather was offering a yoga class for Veterans. While I didn’t exactly get my Namaste on I could see that there were benefits to what Heather was teaching. I say benefits because these were yoga poses based on drills I done with firearms training in and out of the Marine Corps. I was hooked. Since then Heather has been Oscar Mike. She is starting her own company and is working to make yoga more accessible to veterans. She hosts the 7 Echo Podcast on YouTube and has many other things in the works. You can see Heather perform with Chris Turner (www.christurnermusic.com) at The Boondox February 12th 2021 for the Hearts for Warriors Event. Yoga was just the start and I can’t wait to see what she does next!
