Payton Howie is an emerging artist in the Nashville scene. She is not a new artist however. Payton has been performing since she was five years old. I was fortunate enough to talk with Payton the day her single “Freedom” dropped on SoundCloud. Payton believe that being an American is a great thing and those who defend our freedoms should not be forgotten.
This was different for me because usually all you see on the news are the people who don’t like America. Payton wanted to be unapologetic that she and her fans appreciate in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
Payton seems to think she can convert me to country. We will see how that goes;) I did enjoy the video of “Freedom” you can click here (https://youtu.be/l87U6eKMXns) to watch it on YouTube. The video dropped on Memorial Day which I thought was fitting.
Thanks for talking with me Payton. All the best for your goals in 2021! Go to www.paytonhowie.com to learn more!

Joan Hunter started Operation Morale Booster during the Vietnam War. Operation Morale Booster was where Joan would write letters to soldiers serving in Vietnam during the war. Out of the this began a relationship with Bob Johnson, a soldier serving in the U.S. Army.
Joan’s daughter, Susan P. Hunter, wrote 77 Letters about her mother’s work and the friendship between Bob and Joan. This friendship was significant because Joan was a white married woman while Bob was single Black man.
As 77 Letters delves into the friendship between Joan and Bob, there are topics of conversation discussed during that time that resonate today. I found this part of the story just as impactful as the work Joan did during the Vietnam War.
Susan has done an amazing job of bringing her mother’s legacy and Bob’s service to life. You can find out more by going to Amazon to get this fantastic book, or go to https://susanhunterbooks.com/ to learn more.

Some people think that a young person hasn’t matured enough to find direction in life and pursue it. That is the not the case with Tyson Fields. Tyson is a pop, R&B songwriter, performer and producer. Creating music is his life and his new single “I’m Fallin” just dropped. Music is his life. In talking with Tyson, he explained how since a young age he has been working on his music.
He also credits his Uncle, who is active duty military, with providing feedback and direction on his music no matter where he is serving.
You can go to www.tysonfieldsofficial.com/ to learn more about this up can coming artist. Thank you for talking with me Tyson!

This is the information post about the Livestream I am doing with Danielle Rocco of Devoted to a Soldier for Gold Star son Richard Fitts Jr.
SSGT. Richard Fitts Sr. lost his life during a mission in Laos in 1968. It took 21 years for Richard Fitts Jr. and his family to receive closure. This is hard to believe in this day and age, but seeing how this affected Richard Fitts Jr. and his family brings you back to a very different time in our country.
21 Years a Folded Flag is a son’s desire to tell the story of his father’s legacy, and by extension ensure that those who served during the Vietnam War are not forgotten. It is our desire that any Vietnam Veteran who is watching this will come away with a feeling that we honor your service and we appreciate the sacrifices you and those who served with you made for our country.

Ashlie Amber is a country artist. She just appeared in Forbes magazine to mark her single “Those Nights” She is a black female country artist as well.
We talked about her journey as black female country artist. Ashlie told me about the determination it takes to succeed as an artist regardless of skin color. However there are unique challenges being a black country artist.
Ashlie has done work for the US Army and in addition to music, has done modeling, graphic design and work growing her business.
What we as Veterans can learn from Ashlie, is that the path to a goal never stops regardless of the challenges and obstacles along the journey. I learned a lot. Thank you Ashlie
